Couple different questions

I had an interesting thing occur the other night while playing some 4-8. I had been seated for about an hour or so and the gentleman in the 2 seat racks up to leave. I mention to the dealer I would like to move to that seat, he lets me know to wait till the im through with my blinds so i throw a chip over to " lock it up ". The gentleman to my right who had not been seated in over 15 minutes sits back down and says he wants that seat. I let the guy know I had already reserved that seat- out of nowhere the dealer says " who was here first". Now i know that rule plays in casino arizona but I had already put a chip down and let the dealer know verbally i wanted that seat. But the guy had been seated a couple hours on me and eventually moved over there. The table could tell i was upset and i let the dealer know too i thought he should have kept his mouth shut pretty much. It ended up working in my favor as the gentleman ended up losing 200+

Also: whats good for tiping for monte carlo- jackpots etc? I usually will tip 5 dollars for every 100 won- like for aces cracked or monte carlo, i hit 4 tens and won 400 bucks- the dealer received 20 of it. Let me know, sorry to rant i didnt go to the casino today and im itchin

i think you may have had a winnable argument as to keeping the seat, i think the way the rule is supposed to work is that seniority has first dibs until it is locked up by another player.  In other words, the seat came open and you requested it, if no one spoke up and you plugged it with a chip, you are now is possession of the seat.  the dealer should have clarified that part of the rule i think( even they even know it).

I think your tipping policy is just fine of that s what your are comfortable with. It always better to be know as a good tipper than not.

I would imagine most dealers would be very grateful for any amount of tipping from jackpots and promotions.  This is money that is slowly taken away from you every pot and given back to you in decent sized lumps when you find yourself in a rare poker situation (bad beat jackpot, monte carlo hand, aces cracked...)  It might feel good to win a few hundred or thousand suddenly but in the long run you are most likely breaking even and I'm sure the dealers are aware of this.

The most important tip is the toke.  Dealers are paid to pitch cards and should be tipped accordingly.  I do not toke more according to the size of the pot or a lucky catch.  In the long run big pots and big hands come along all the time and are not a factor of who is pitching the cards.  I toke a larger amount to dealers, brushes, runners, & servers that are skilled, knowledgeable, efficient, or friendly.  That is their job.

A 5-10% tip on promotions sounds perfectly fine to me.  But don't forget to toss any casino employee that is doing a good job a little extra regardless if you're winning or losing.
